What is the Junior Development Program?
The Junior Development Program, or JDP, refers to the outdoor season development program offered to U7 age players in a fun, yet structured way that emphasizes ball mastery and technique in order to build a strong foundation for life long soccer activity.
Note: the programs above U7 are now managed as part of the Competitive programs.
The U7 program is designed to specifically focus on technical skill development (ball mastery) in a challenging and fun environment. It is in keeping with THPFC’s philosophy that in order for a player to keep improving and reach his/her potential they need to focus on this type of training. A player needs to be comfortable to play a ball with all parts of their body and confident to make productive plays. This will translate into more confidence with the ball and being better prepared for the competitive programs as they mature.
JDP also aligns with the Canadian Soccer Association’s Long Term Player Development (LTPD) initiative, where the focus in younger ages is on skill development and having fun.
