2017 Outdoor U07 (2010) Pre-Competitive Program
What is the Junior Development Program?
The Junior Development Program (JDP) is a development program offered to U07 players in a fun,yet structured environment that emphasizes ball mastery and individual technical skills in order to build a strong foundation for life-long soccer activity.
Our U07 JDP Program is led by our U06-U08 Director of Coaching (DOC) Ian Sinclair. He is supported by a highly-qualified and knowledgeable coaching staff.
Ian’s coaching career spans over 15 years, in particular playing an important role in helping nurture and develop players at the grassroots level. His experience includes; technical director of grassroots and special programs at Oakville Soccer Club, junior academy director at Oakville Soccer Club, rep competitive coach Girls U13-U17 and assistant men’s coach with McMaster University. The U07 JDP program is designed to specifically focus on technical skill development (ball mastery) in a challenging and fun environment. It is in keeping with THPFC’s philosophy that in order for a player to keep improving and reach his/her potential they need to focus on this type of training. A player needs to be comfortable to play a ball with all parts of both feet and confident when making decisions. This will translate into more confidence with the ball and being better prepared for the competitive programs as they mature and progress through the various development stages.
The JDP program runs throughout the summer.
Our training curriculum is aligned with Canadian Soccer Association’s (CSA) Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) initiative, where the focus is on skill development and having fun.
- We follow age appropriate soccer activities that are appropriate to this age group.
- These activities promote a feel for the ball while teaching basic principles of play within a FUN but structured setting.
- There will be themed technical topic each week that is led by the DOC for the age group and technical support staff.
- All sessions will culminate with a small-sided game each week. Small sided games are structured as 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 games which will benefit the players as it will allow players to get more touches on the ball and experience in-game settings.
The U07 Program consists of:
1 Session Per Week during April
2 Sessions Per Week from Early May to Mid-September (blackout period late July and Early August)
U7 - Boys - Monday and Wednesday 6-7pmU7 - Girls - Tuesday and Thursday 6-7pm
8 Game Days on Saturday mornings playing at 5v5 Format, the same format that all players will play at U08
